Yes Philippines Digital

I am such a showbiz chismis lover! And of course it has been ages since I've indulged in unadulterated showbiz scoop... so last month I subscribed to Yes Philippine Digital - through Philippine Entertainment Portal's website! The last time I subscribed was back in 2009. Oh simple pleasures in life. I guess it makes me forget reality for a little while and focus on the various articles available. My favourite reads are about featured celebrity homes. Taking a peek into the private lives of the celebrities can give one an insight to what they are like in real life - their taste, their personality and their guilty indulgences!

When I subscribed they didn't have the half price promotion (through Zinio) so I paid full price at $24.99. I wish I waited a little bit longer! But oh well, maybe next time I will catch a promo offer when I renew my subscription.

Off to read the goss now! December issue of YES is up!

I am soo showbiz!

I was just surfing around and hubby and I came across the videos on youtube where Americans were trying to speak in Tagalog. Also, there were a few ones who sang in Tagalog, etc. How bizarre! There was one guy who sang a Parokya ni Edgar song that was really good. The American accent would occassionally come up, but overall it was good.

And then still surfing later on, we came across a few other interesting videos. There were videos showing a list of American Filipino celebrities! Being the showbiz person that I am, this got me interested. A few of the celebrities that I only found out had Filipino blood in them are below. Some of them I don't really know but hubby knew them and was amazed with this trivia. Read on to see who are part Filipino.

- Rachel Bilson
- Kirk Hammett (Metallica guitarist)
- Dave Bautista/Batista (some wrestler dude)
- Enrique Iglesias
- Rob Schneider
- Lou Diamond Philips
- Vanessa Hudgens
- Nicole Herzinger
- Shannyn Sossamon

How cool is that? I guess, it just goes to show that really we live in a multicultural world.

Salute to nurses

I'm not quite sure if there is such a thing as world nurse's day, but I think one of the best nurses around anywhere is a Filipino/Filipina. I've seen them care for the elderly (even my own elders back home) as well as young kids in the E.R., and care for those who've just given birth. I've got a few real good friends and relatives who are nurses as well and they just do an absolute amazing job!! I cannot imagine the extent of their job, which offers not only emotional support to those who are ill, but really provide sincere assistance with meds, emergencies, etc! They have tons of real life stories that are interesting, happy, sad, trivial, weird and sometimes plain gross (well to normal professionals like me), just because we don't deal with this on a daily basis, we sometimes think different of mundane silly things but to nurses these are real life scenarios which they do take seriously all the time.

Really, Filipinos are just a nurturing and caring bunch in so much that Pinoy nurses are recruited worldwide, and they do a real good job at nursing others.

I've just been sent this link, and thought I'd pass this link on to whoever would be interested in working in NSW. It's a government site, but of course use your own discretion at all times. Click on: NSW Department of Health. I think they're taking employment applications for 2009, and the application period is from June 25 to August 11, 2008.

Spread the word and who knows the rest of the world would be gentle carers like us as well :)

The big 4-0

Turning 40 soon has had me thinking about a few things lately. One, major one is whether to have another baby. Hmm. I guess this is partly n...
