Sooner than later

Sooner than later I think I would be wearing maternity clothes! So, I enjoy browsing through the websites that people have referred to me. What I like are the ones which don't look old fashioned or too eccentric (if there are any!). I am also leaning towards more dressy type of clothes that come in light or pastel colors. I wish I could find some outfit that I could wear to work, especially during winter season. I guess I still have to do more research to see what would suit me. I really need my sisters with me when choosing what would look nice in a baby bump fashion sort of way!

Shady weather

So much for what started out to be a sunny Monday, it is now getting all cloudy and gloomy again. It has pretty much been like this depressing weather for the past two and a half weeks. Well, I guess better to have had a bit of a sunny few hours than not have it at all. I’m waiting for better summer weather for the next few weeks just so I could use my serengetti sunnies or even just my other old pair. Having come across this new website of affordable but branded optical wear, I grab the chance to wear them on sunny days. However, it looks like I won’t really get to wear them for a while due to this predictably gloomy weather!

Buying presents

Sometimes I find myself in a dilemma when buying presents for people who already have it all. Really, how does one buy the perfect gift for these people? One of my family friends here is a classic example. Their family has everything, and I mean everything. I was thinking that maybe Visa gift cards are the way to go for them, so that I don't buy gift them with something that they don't need. I know though that they need love and peace, for Christmas. Last time I heard they may actually be going through a divorce. Sad, but true. Sometimes when we think people have everything, really they don't have it all, all the time. I wish I can just give them back their love for each other. That's life though.

Scrapping

One thing that I always wanted to do but never got around to doing, or finishing, or ... Is Scrapping. I tried it just when I got to Sydney five years ago, and for a while I thought I would do it quite regularly, but then after a year I just got backlogged, and it just hasn't been updated since. It's a shame, coz I have quite a few things to document..milestones, events, travels, memories... I have put this on my top five things to do before the year ends. Hopefully I get to catch up on a bit. I am crossing my fingers and hoping I really get this done. Soon. :) I know it can be therapeutic to do this activity regularly, and really just to be able to let me creative juices out would be nice.

I really salute everyone who can scrap regularly. I know a few people who do this often, and I am jealous. It's some sort of like a life story, a snapshot of events, summarised in a pretty personalised book. Just thinking about it makes me want to do it right now. :)

Send someone a handwritten letter

If there was only one person you could mail a letter to at this point in your life, who would it be? And why?

There are so many people that we would love to get in touch with again. If only we took the time to write them a handwritten heartfelt letter. Instead of typing away a cold email. But then again, do people still appreciate handwritten letters? I know I still do.

Wooden Beetle Bug

Car enthusiast, Momir Bojic is the owner of this cool one of a kind oak wood covered Volkswagen beetle. How interesting that it took him about a year to coat his vehicle with this wood. He lives in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and drives the car between Celinac and Banja Luka. Interesting masterpiece if I may say so!

Are you a bag, shoe or jewelry person?

I probably own about 30 pairs of shoes, more or less ( I think it is more though). I don’t know how it’s come up to that number, although I guess because I have shoes to suit different moods I am in. Just like my bags. I probably have about the same number of bags. They both come in different colors, shapes, and sizes. When I like something, for example shoes, I buy them in different colors of the same design, just to match the different bags as well.

Having said that though, I am not really much of a shopper. But, when I start, I really shop until I drop. Although I realize that I am not the best shopper particularly of baby presents. I find that each child is different and I don’t want to give the usual stuff that the baby may already have. I think a shop selling customized baby gifts would really be helpful during shopping dilemmas like these. Personalized gifts for baby would really be appreciated by the parents (also known as my friend/s) as they would feel that thought was given to choosing the best personalized new baby gifts.

When I was thinking what to buy my goddaughter of course I thought about getting her baby shoes, but then she’d just outgrow them. I ended up just getting her this really nice precious pearl earrings that were small enough to suit her baby ears, but big enough for her to use when she gets older. I really hope that she likes it.

Listening to radio stations

My boyfriend is always the first to know or hear about whatever new gadget there is around. Well, at least, between the two of us he usually knows more about technology than me. However, when I asked him about high definition radio he wasn’t quite all knowing about this. I told him to go and just surf the internet about this, so that we could listen to new radio stations, instead of the old ones that we used to listen to. I have yet to find out whether iTunes Tagging can work on my Iphone. I am pretty sure it will work, I would just need to read more about it. Just thinking about this excites me! I will have to ask the girls at work if they know about this. This whole new revolution of listening to high definition sound is exciting! Out with the analog ways, and move in with digital!

What's the use of scopes

I’ve always wanted to visit the Sydney Observatory, and so when my family was around, and I was looking for activities for us to do, I decided to take them to the planetarium. We went at night, and saw a lot of cool telescopic gadgets to look through and see the world beyond earth. Imagine looking through this magnificent set of lenses and glasses, and seeing bursts of light that are hundreds and thousands of light years away! It was amazing. I would recommend this to anyone who visits Sydney. Or perhaps any city you visit that has a planetarium would be quite an experience. The telescopes used are similar to Riflescopes in a way that they project quite a distance from where you are. However, the telescopes at the Observatory were far advanced in terms of technology; the tactical telescopes are nonetheless amazing as well. Imagine seeing through that lens your opponent in a jungle setting. I remember the time when we went and played laser skirmish at Gosford with my siblings. We were able to have a taste of what these tactical gears had to offer!

What keeps me going

...At work that is. Is this machine:
When the clock strikes about 230pm-330pm, you suddenly get distracted. It feels like your mind wants to float off to somewhere, possibly outdoors especially with the peek of the sun's ray through the waters of the wharf, through your window at work.

My team mates and I often feel this whirl of three-thirty-itis anytime mid-afternoon. Some times we have sweet cravings, and other times we all want something savoury. Whatever we feel like, we take turns just grabbing something from the ... Vending Machine! :)

I guess these machines were meant to temporarily save you from twangs of cravings. Either you are at work, in a hotel where there's no 24 hour room service, or at the airport waiting for a flight, at the train station platform waiting for your service, etc.

Again one great thing that man's invented. Did you know vending machine's history dates back to 215 BC, and was invented by the Greek Mathematician, Hero. Back then it only could vend holy water at the Egyptian temples. Now, it vends almost anything from: junk food, drinks, cigarettes, women's stuff, gumballs, lollies and candies, etc.

See my photo of a vending machine :)

JIMMY SOMMERS The Now

"The Now" that's the song title I’m listening to now… So soothing to listen to. Sometimes I have a thing for music that even when the lyrics are not as appealing if I like the beat to it, I just listen. Having said that though, this jazzy tune caught my attention cause of both the beat and lyrics…. First time to hear this one, and I am beginning to be a fan of him. I should search him up later! Have you heard him yet? It helps that he's quite hunky too! :) He sort of reminds me of Rufus Humphrey, from Gossip Girl! Don't you think so?

Laser Skirmish in Sydney

This weekend my siblings and I are going to play laser skirmish in a city called Gosford, which is in the northern part of Sydney. We've been talking about it, getting all excited about playing against each other. Unlike laser tag, laser skirmish is played outdoors. We'd be all geared up in camouflage, BDU pants, hats, the whole outfit that one uses in combat! This will be a first time for all of us, and we are pretty enthusiastic about the activity. I could just imagine running and hiding through acres of battlefield. I am really just hoping the weather is good this weekend. Otherwise, I suppose playing in the rain would be fun too!

Rafe Bags hit Manila this March!

Rafe Bags in Manila Rafe Totengco has always been a Bag Icon. He's one of the most popular fashion hits in New York supplying bags to Hollywood dolls such as: Jessica Alba, Sandra Oh, Vanessa Minnillo, Lindsay Lohan, Adriana Lima, Giselle Bundchen, Mischa Barton, Blake Lively, Paris Hilton. He's even done Eva Longoria's wedding clutch!

Finally he's opening his first store in Manila, his hometown! He is opening the first Rafe store at Greenbelt, Makati on March 27, 2008. Since there is no Rafe store in Sydney I will have to wait til I visit Manila, or perhaps NYC?

Together with Monique Lhuillier, he's become one of the most successful and well known businessman/designer from the Philippines. I've been quite a fan of his works and his writing style. You may read more about him, his travels and fun thoughts on his blog.

My pet is hungryyy!

In my apartment we can't keep pets, so I resorted to just having a Neopet. (hehe - - see snippet!)

It's quite a cool program, when I went for a month long Manila vacation I booked her into a hotel! Lucky pet! Coz I knew I wouldn't have time to visit her every so often.

Recently I have been busy with other things and have not been able to feed her! Times like this I just think that maybe I won't be a responsible pet owner, but then again I'm sure if I have a cute cat or pup roaming around my flat I would definitely give it my time and attention. How I wish I could really keep one. Perhaps when I get my own place! Which I hope to get soon!!

Cupcake Mania

If you think cupcake mania's just in Manila, you are mistaken! It is everywhere! Even in Sydney. I have come across Cupcakes on Pitt more than a year ago, while I was training for my current job, one of the trainor/speakers have brought in these yummy goodies! It was a very welcome break to our tired brains during training. The cupcakes were so cute that you would want to stare at it first before munching them in. So cute that from time to time, visitors at work would bring boxes of these to the office. A few times there was even our company logo on the goodies! How cool!

These cupcakes are guaranteed fresh on the day, and have no preservatives at all in their ingredients. These tempting treats are priced at A$2 each, which is not a bad price at all.

I heard on Valentines day this year the line actually extended all the way to Ted's Camera store next door! Cupcakes are the new Roses??

I can't wait to have my Manila friends who are visiting (soon), to try this! I guess Sonja's Cupcakes has competition. But then again, thats miles and miles away.

P.S. At one time I actually bought this game for my palm, which was Cake Mania, if you're into baking and cakes, this is quite an interesting and fun game! It's kept me up every night for a good few months!

Playing the Sims Game & Home Furnitures from Ikea and Freedom

Don't you just love going shopping to buy furnitures for the house? I do! Not that I have that much $$ to buy stuff that I want (or need in disguise). But I just find it very exciting to go to a store and visualise something you've seen at the shop, where you will be placing it at home. And whether the furnitures match your overall look at home.

Soon I hope to be visiting Ikea or Freedom, when hopefully I get my own place. I've been browsing through their sites and really so many cute and practical stuff to purchase.

I think I should have been an interior designer, as I really used to love decorating if given the chance. I may not be that good (yet), but those things can be learned. And it helps to have a bit of flair for creativity. I may have a hidden talent. A few years ago I loved playing the game Sims. I actually played it because I loved creating houses. This game's such a great time waster (hehe, I played 4 hours straight one time). So addictive. Being able to construct your house the way you want it to be, furnish it, all without having to move your bum off your chair, nor having to spend a penny (except for internet costs and electricity of course).

I am off surfing the net for home stuff. Who knows if a great bargain comes up, I may just grab it!

The big 4-0

Turning 40 soon has had me thinking about a few things lately. One, major one is whether to have another baby. Hmm. I guess this is partly n...
